About M&T Bank Stadium

M&T Bank Stadium

M&T Bank Stadium, or as the fans like to call it the Ravens Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium that hosts football games as well as musical shows. The venue concessions, ease of access, and fan amenities make the Ravens Stadium one of the most praised stadiums in the US.

The History

The Ravens stadium has some pretty cool history. The site was once used to produce Wm. Knabe & Co. pianos before Wm. Knabe & Co. closed during the Great Depression. The place remained vacant until Baltimore decided to create one of the greatest stadiums in the NFL. On September 6, 1998, M&T Bank Stadium opened its doors, keeping the mosaic sidewalk keyboard on the southwest corner to pay homage to the building’s legacy.

Besides coming to watch the NFL Ravens play at the stadium, fans can attend other types of events as well. First of all, during football season, other teams typically play their games at M&T Bank Stadium beside the Ravens. Additionally, in 2000, the venue hosted the memorable Army-Navy Game and it continued hosting the academies in 2007, 2014, and 2016. In 2005, the first rematch in the Navy-Maryland series in over 40 years which was named “Crab Bowl Classic” took place at the M&T Bank Stadium.

Soccer games are typically played at the M&T Stadium too, and in 2013 the venue even hosted the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Other than sports games, M&T Bank Stadium frequently hosts all kinds of live shows. The most popular festivals happening here are the HFStival and Monster Jam. Famous singers who performed at M&T Bank Stadium include Foo Fighters, Metallica, U2, and even Beyoncé.

The stadium can hold 71,203 people, so getting a ticket for a killer show isn’t that difficult.

In 2000, M&T Bank Stadium was featured in the movie “The Replacements” with Keanu Reeves and in 2002, it starred in “The Sum of All Fears”, except for the aerial shots that were taken at Oriole Park.
