Bojangles Coliseum is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue that’s located on the outskirts of Charlotte. The venue first opened in 1955 as the Charlotte Coliseum and has undergone multiple name changes, renovations, and expansions over the years. It’s been used to host basketball, hockey, indoor soccer, arena football, lacrosse, and roller derby, among other sports. Currently, the coliseum serves as the home ice for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. It’s also used as a concert venue, hosting the likes of the Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley, among others. The current capacity of Bojangles Coliseum is 8,600 people.
