About Great American Ball Park

Great American Ball Park

The little ball field with the grand old name, Great American Ball Park has been thrilling baseball fans in Cincinnati since it opened its doors in 2003. Exclusively constructed for the MLB’s Cincinnati Reds, this showstopper of a ballpark always leaves fans breathless thanks to its classic design and amenities.

History of the Great American Ball Park

The Great American Ball Park was conceived as a replacement for the aging Cinergy Field, which had been built in 1970 and was pretty old by the 1990s. The Reds, who shared the multi-use park with the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, complained long and loud about wanting a field of their own, and the result was the Great American Ball Park breaking ground shortly after the Bengals’ new digs, Paul Brown Stadium, opened its doors nearby.

Great American Ball Park sports events are almost exclusively pro baseball, considering the open-air stadium was built specifically to give the Reds a place to call home. However, the venue has been a popular one for music acts as well, with Great American Ball Park concerts featuring incredible performers like Paul McCartney, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, and countless others.

What makes Great American Ball Park events so special?

Great American Ball Park events benefit from the innovative and fun design elements of the venue. This ballpark’s 42,000-seat capacity is only the tip of the iceberg. High-definition video displays, a glass-encased restaurant with perfect views of the field, the team’s Hall of Fame and Museum, a rose garden, and even a first-of-its-kind nursing suite for mothers of young children make the Great American Ball Park the perfect place to go to for any event!
